paros, s'agapo

paros has been absolutely fantastic. It is my favorite island--it's relaxed and tranquil, but there is still fun stuff to do at nite. last nite we treated ourselves to a really nice dinner. we got OCTOPUS, which was so good, and another fish dish and just sat and relaxed and enjoyed our meal. it's nice to not have a waitress trying to get you out of the restaurant so she can seat the table. we asked for the check and the waiter asked "why do you want to leave? staaaay!"
--
today we are taking the ferry to athens and then somehow, someway getting to thessaloniki. i woke up this morning with flu-like symptoms, so i hope i'm not sick for halkidiki! on monday we are going to take the train to istanbul and stay there for a couple days, which will be fantastic even though it's going to be hot as a crotch there. then we head back to halkidiki for the rest of the time, aside from a day trip into thess so i can get a tattoo :)

i'm so relaxed right now i don't think people would even recognize me...

"the sea was angry that day my friends, like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli."

currently in paros, the most relaxing island so far. we have done so much in the last 48 hours. here's the abbreviated story...
--
wednesday morning we hopped on a ferry to santorini. the sea was unusually choppy that day AND the ac inside the boat was broken. long story short i puked 3 times and spent the entire 2 hour ride lying on the floor covered in a cold sweat. yikes. but we arrived in santorini and then the day turned from bad to amazing. we rented a car and drove around the entire island, stopping at beaches to swim and take pictures. we walked around oia, which is the most amazing place i have ever seen. took TONS of pics. then we got on a fast ferry at 9 to ios and got ready to party.
--
ios=INSANE. drunkest i've been in quite some time. that's all im going to say. then we ended up oversleeping, waking up 20 minutes before our ferry, sprinted to the port and ended up making it, thankfully. i don't think i could have survived another day in ios.
--
so now here we are in paros, our hotel is amazing and the guy who owns it is one of those people that is so nice and kind and generous that he makes me feel like a terrible person. oh wait, i am a terrible person. haha. so we're here for a couple days and we're gonna spend all day tomorrow at various beaches, then on saturday it's off to THESSALONIKI!!

aside from my motion sickness and the fact that my camera is not functioning at the moment, life is great.

"if it's so hard to get pregnant, how do you explain the amount of crying children on planes?"

ladies and gentlemen, i've arrived. after a long flight including crying children and paying 5 bucks for a warm can of bud lite, as well as an athens airport fiasco, rose and i finally found each other and after she was done bawling, we hopped on the bus to go to piraeus, the port. we stopped at a restaurant and had our first frappe, amstel, and tzatziki of the trip. needless to say, we were in HEAVEN.
--
took a fast ferry and we were in rethymno, crete in no time. we wandered around for a bit trying to find our hostel and eventually found it, showered the grime of traveling off our bodies, and headed out on the town. we hit a few bars, and called it a nite around 3...early for greece!
--
so today we slept in till 11, which felt AMAZING, and thanks to the tylenol pm, i almost was able to erase the image of a nude german woman sleeping in my hostel room...why she was nude, nobody knows. we spent the entire day at the beach, save for about an hour and a half of drinking frappe and eating tzatziki at a waterfront cafe. my life could be worse right now, i'll say.
--
going out tonite and then we get an early ferry to santorini for a day trip, followed by a nite in IOS. can't wait to tell y'all about that....
--
ciao for now.

pre-departure

so it's the nite before i fly out for my big adventure and i'm like wetting my pants i'm so excited. obviously i'm excited to lay on a beach for 2 weeks, but more than that i'm excited to see rose and kirby because it has been about a billion years. i'm going to try and keep updating this every time i can get to an internet cafe, just so y'all can keep up with our shenanigans.
--
so as soon as we hava tearful reunion in the athens airport, it is off to the port of piraeus to hop on a ferry to crete. the plan is to go to rethymno, a town on the coast of the island, and stay there for a couple nites in a cute hostel i found online. that's the plan. but we know how well things go according to plan in greece, so who the hell knows what we'll end up doing. all that matters is that i get to relax and NOT think about marathon sports for a while.
--
hopefully my next post will be from a computer at our hostel as we are on our way out to the beach for the day! after 14 hours on a plane and another 6 on a ferry, i'll need some sun and some alcohol!
later.
